Expanding Our Voice and Learning Together
We’ve been busy attending key events and conferences, and we’re excited to share some upcoming opportunities where we will continue to spread our mission of inclusion and collaboration for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
GiGi’s Playhouse Charlotte Annual Gala 2024
Bob and Lori Spence represented Julia’s Community at this year’s GiGi’s Playhouse Charlotte Annual Gala. The evening was filled with dancing, dining, and fundraising to benefit individuals with Down syndrome and their families. Our presence at this gala is crucial as it strengthens our partnerships with organizations that share our commitment to creating inclusive environments for people with disabilities. Engaging in these community events allows us to learn from others and advocate for meaningful opportunities for those we support.

State of the Art Conference
Our team will participate in this important event hosted in Chapel Hill, NC. The conference is one of the largest in the field, bringing together inclusive programs, policymakers, non-profits, and families to discuss the latest research and best practices in inclusive higher education for individuals with intellectual disabilities. By attending, Julia’s Community ensures that we stay at the forefront of educational innovation and advocacy, directly benefiting our students and expanding the possibilities for their future academic and social successes.
Holy Angels Got Talent Gala
At this fun-filled gala, we’ll cheer on the incredible talents of Holy Angels' residents. It will be an evening of entertainment while supporting the Holy Angels' mission of loving, living, and learning for the differently abled. Julia’s Community participation in this event highlights the importance of recognizing and celebrating the unique abilities of every individual, fostering a stronger sense of community, and building relationships with other local organizations championing inclusivity.

Inclusive Housing Summit 2024
We will attend this summit, focusing on how the built environment impacts inclusivity and independence for people of all ages and abilities. The summit will explore models of inclusive living and discuss how to develop and fund these communities across North Carolina. For Julia’s Community, attending the Inclusive Housing Summit is key to advancing our understanding of how to create living spaces that fully accommodate individuals with disabilities. This knowledge will be vital as we continue to advocate for accessible, supportive housing that empowers our members to live independently and confidently.
Julia's Community at Wingate University
Our students are actively engaged in various activities on the Wingate campus, gaining valuable skills and fully integrating into the community. These experiences are key to fostering inclusion and personal growth. Check out the schedule below for upcoming events this fall!
